Kevin Brown, APR, FCPRS

Kevin is the President of Kevin Brown Communications (KBC), a full-service public relations firm he started in 2003. This year Kevin celebrates 31 years of media and public relations experience primarily in Northern British Columbia and Northern Alberta.

Prior to starting KBC, Kevin was the Communications & Community Relations Manager for the Northern Forest Products Association (NFPA).   For almost 9 years Kevin guided an award-winning community relations program aimed at keeping NFPA region communities better informed about challenges and key issues facing the forest industry.   Kevin worked on the high profile Mountain Pine Beetle public awareness campaign which was launched in September 1999 and took great pride in having the NFPA receive the Union of BC Municipalities Community Partnership Award in October 2000.

Kevin began his public relations career in 1993 as a Regional Government Communications Officer for the Province of BC.   Before embarking on his PR career, he spent over 9 years as a journalist for CBC Radio News, mostly in Northern BC. His start in radio news came in Prince George in 1983 when he joined the newsroom of CJCI which is now part of the Bell Media network.  

Kevin has been a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) since 1999.   In 2003, he received his Certificate of Accreditation in Public Relations (APR). In 2010, Kevin received the Diamond Jubilee Award as CPRS Mentor of The Year which recognized his assistance to new public relations practitioners and promotion of CPRS across Northern BC and the Yukon. In 2012, Kevin was inducted into the CPRS College of Fellows (FCPRS) which recognizes his 20 years in PR and for his leadership in contributing to the betterment of the profession in Northern BC.

In May 2013, Kevin received a Life Membership in the North Central Local Government Association (NCLGA) in appreciation for his dedication and exemplary service to the NCLGA.   Kevin has been a member of the Knowledge Network Board of Directors since 2010, sits on the Board of the International Bioenergy Conference Society and is also a member of the Communications Committee of the Association of Mineral Exploration of BC.
